The Bourley Fly Fishing Club (BFFC) has been a self-managed, self-funding, non-profit organisation since 1922 and is now 102 years. It is probably one of the oldest fly-fishing clubs in the Armed Forces.
Currently, the club leases two lakes (totaling 7 acres) The larger of the waters, 6.1 acres, is stocked with full-finned rainbow trout and is fished on a catch-and-take basis; your catch is yours to enjoy.
The smaller lake is stocked with hard-fighting brown trout and fished as a catch-and-release water.
The lakes provide a tranquil location and exciting fishing for the members. During May and June, the lakes normally have a prolific mayfly hatch. The mayfly in the water is the rare Ephemera Vulgata. It is believed that Bourley waters have the only large concentration of this particular mayfly in the Southeast. The club committee is very aware of the therapeutic benefits that fly fishing can provide to assist serving personnel and veterans in their rehabilitation programmes and is actively involved in working with service-based charities to make available the club facilities for individuals to learn and partake in fly fishing.
The facilities include ample parking adjacent to the lakes and the BFFC rod hut which has hot drink making facilities a microwave oven and a toilet.
